Wow - so good!

If I Stay - Gayle Forman

17 year old Mia is in the hospital ICU hanging by a thread after a car accident that kills her parents and younger brother.  She's somehow projected her consciousness outside of her body during the wreck and knows everything that's going on around her.  Now she has a decision to make - will she stay and face the painful, scary recovery and loss of her family or will she let go, see if she can follow where they went and leave her extended family, friends, boyfriend and unknown future behind?

I read this in about 2 hours.  It's so good! The characters really draw you in and the plot is really good.  Mia is a realistic teenage girl, vulnerable without being annoying or a complete doormat.  Her friends and family are great, funny, but not perfect, people.  The situations she's facing before the accident are totally realistic, dealing with relationships and how they change in the face of leaving for college - the insecurities and upheaval that come with the prospect of leaving home and everything you've known for the first time.

I highly recommend this book!
